Ch ch ch changes
This January issue of Terre haute Living brings with it a number of changes. Everything from the design to our distribution model.
I’ll start with the biggest change first.
Over the last 12 issues we have been printing roughly 7,500 copies of the magazine. It was not enough. readers and advertisers wanted more. So we’ve increased the number to 20,000. A 200% increase. This is a huge increase in number -especially considering that 4 out of 5 new magazines stop publication in the first year.
Here we are, two years later, still going strong. In fact, stronger. With the new print increase also comes a change in the cover price: FREE. This decrease in price will delight thousands of readers. Yet I’m sure subscribers of the magazine will wonder exactly why it is that they are paying for it. Well, you’re paying for the confidence that you will receive your copy, in the mail, on each publication date. You, as a subscriber, could also view yourselves as benefactors, helping to support a local city magazine bring to the community great stories and photos about Terre Haute. Doesn’t that make you fell warm and fuzzy inside? Of course, if you wish to cancel the remainder of your subscription you can call (812) 231-4274 and one of our helpful staff members will assist you. But then you won’t be guaranteed to get every issue -is that a risk you are willing to take?
Design-wise We’ve eliminated a few things and added a few more. Gone are the full page department leads and added are some new departments like Neighbors and INBusiness. There is also a new food column by Stacey Muncie, You Gonna Eat That. we will be adding more columns, features, and departments as the year progresses as well.
Online has seen some new changes as well. When a new issue comes out, you’ll be able to read the entire magazine online in a couple of different ways. One way is in this format you are reading now. Here you can jump around, read articles by a single author, as well as view photos and content not included in the print edition. the second way is the digital print edition available at digital.terrehauteliving.com This is an interactive version of the print edition. you can view the articles as they are meant to be read in the print edition (I spend a good deal of time and effort in the design of each issue, I enjoy it when the original presentation is viewed).
So, all in all, I hope the changes are well received. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to drop me a line via this form.
